SHIRYU TAKAHASHI tell us about the beginning of the brand:
I first aspired to become a fashion designer at the age of 19. At the time, I was working at a printing factory, but I was so captivated by fashion that I spent almost all of my earnings on clothing. My deep passion for this world and the strong desire to create my own designs and make an impact became the driving force behind my journey as a designer.
Afterward, I gained experience in PRADA’s magazzino operations and later became a freelance Web, UI/UX, and graphic designer. After working as a freelancer for about two years, I established MYART Inc. Around the same time, I enrolled at Vantan Design Institute to study fashion design.
After completing my studies at Vantan in just one year, I fully dedicated myself to preparing for the launch of my brand. Approximately a year later, I was able to present my first collection.
About the First Collection
The concept of my first collection was “Geometric.” It was inspired by the “flat design” elements I had worked with in Web, UI/UX, and graphic design. A defining feature of this collection is that all items share a common characteristic—when laid flat, they take on geometric shapes. While the silhouettes are generally relaxed, they create unique forms that are difficult to envision from their flat appearance.
I also focused on the choice of fabrics and colors, ensuring that the color palette accurately represented primary colors and using matte fabrics that make it difficult to immediately recognize the items as clothing in photographs. This distinct approach earned recognition, leading me to become a finalist in the ASIA DESIGN PRIZE 2024 and securing an opportunity to present my work in Paris.

2024 Autumn/Winter Collection
The concept for this collection was “Wagasa” (Japanese umbrellas). To give it a different impression from my previous two collections, I chose an item symbolic of Japan as the theme. Every design element, including the fabric texture, color tones, sewing techniques, and intricate details, was carefully crafted to embody the essence of a traditional Japanese umbrella. Through this collection, SHIRYU TAKAHASHI’s designs evolved even further.

2025 Spring/Summer Collection in Paris
The concept of this collection was “Bamboo.” Continuing from the previous collection, I chose a theme that evokes a strong sense of Japanese tradition. There were two main reasons for this choice. First, I wanted to maintain continuity with the previous collection. Second, since it was confirmed that the collection would be presented in Paris, I aimed to enhance its appeal in the European and global markets from a strategic standpoint.
In terms of design, I focused on accurately representing the texture, color, and construction of bamboo. The buttons used in this collection were made from real bamboo. The color variations included green and black—green to represent typical bamboo and black to depict a variety known as “black bamboo.”
Through this collection, I was able to expand opportunities for media exposure, store openings, and event participation overseas. Additionally, it led to an award at the ASIA DESIGN PRIZE 2025.

Future Prospects
With SHIRYU TAKAHASHI set to be carried in select shops in Paris, I aim to further expand global recognition, particularly in Europe. My aspirations include winning design awards such as those from LVMH, participating in Paris Fashion Week’s official schedule, and eventually opening flagship stores worldwide. Although there are countless challenges ahead, I will continue striving to elevate the brand to new heights.
