The 7th Annual First Ladies Luncheon hosted by Fashion 4 Development took place at the Pierre Hotel in New York, September 19th 2017. After a beautiful Red Carpet with Vip guests attending the luncheon started with an amazing fashion presentation with models wearing garments by AFI (African Fashion International) designers in honor of Franca Sozzani, former Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Italia and Goodwill Ambassador for F4D from 2011 to 2016. Her son, Francesco Carozzini, announced the premier Franca Sozzani Award, which, from this year on, will be given each year at F4D’s First Ladies Luncheon. The 2017 Franca Sozzani Award was presented to Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Founder of African Fashion International and pioneer of African luxury fashion initiatives who will also take on the role of Goodwill Ambassador for the African region to continue Sozzani’s work.

During the ceremony the attendees enjoyed a runway show of Elie Saab’s Fall/Winter 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection. Elegant dresses with embroideries, lace created a magical atmosphere.

The fashion icon was honored for her impactful initiatives and fundraising work for Fashion For Relief, the charitable organization founded in 2005 that has raised funds for various environmental and humanitarian causes worldwide. F4D’s Angel Award is given to outstanding individuals who are recognized for their charity work and impact in the areas of philanthropy like Ms. Campbell herself.

fashion industry into a powerful tool to drive positive social change.
