Wavesandrunways was proud to support the Radio and Television News Association’s 68th Annual Golden Mike Awards on January 27th in at the Universal Hilton Hotel. The Golden Mike Awards honor the best in Southern California Broadcast Journalism from the past year.

The awards dinner began with a social cocktail reception, then guests were treated to a three-course dinner followed by a welcoming speech from RTNA President Chris Little and an introduction to the next 2018 RTNA Board.

Renowned Oceanographer Dr. Bill Patzert received the 2018 Freedom of Information Award.

Fox News Anchor Christine Devine, NBC Anchor Chuck Henry, and CBS Reporter Dave Lopez were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

While most other awards contests determine their winners by selecting the best from all those submitted in each category, winners of the Golden Mike Awards must also meet the “Standard of Excellence” . If the judge feels that there is no entry that meets that standard, no award is given in that category.

In total , 84 Awards were presented during the ceremony to the greatest in tv and ratio news.
